Whilst off sick, I have had a bit more time than usual to go exploring on the latop. I came across a forum with handy tips for arthritis sufferers, one of which was to collect all the laundry then throw it downsatairs ahead of you.
Susie's French exchange partner is arriving tonight (bad timing as another body to look after is not really what I need at the moment!). This causes much swapping of beds and bedding. So, I gathered one huge bundle together inside a sheet, rolled it up (not particularly easy with sore hands!) and threw it down stairs....
Unfortunately, it landed on the dying poinsetta on the hall window sill, sent that crashing to the floor and smashed the pot. The bottom of the stairs was a mess of plant, soil, pottery and much dirtier laundry! It added a whole new meaning to soiled bedding! Both cats are traumatised as they wre asleep under the hall radiator. Betty, the nervous one, is now sitting on the sideboard and staring at the carpet in fear. Teddy is sitting outside in a resigned manner.
I'm trying hard to have a "you've got to laugh" attitude at the moment, but this one was not easy ... I think I will avoid any new handy hints for a while! xx Ailsa

Oh Ailsa! I'm sorry but I had to chuckle at the thought of it all! Not fair is it! YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Oh Ailsa
Yes just had a good old chuckle. You poor thing evend more mess to clear up now. I also throw my clothes downstairs but do not have the pot plant at the bottom of the stairs. Toilet rolls get thrown down for the little loo and I have been known to hit 'somone'
Hope you get cleared up soon. It is windy here so I am going to struggle now and hang out some washing. I dont have a tumble dryer.

Sorry Ailsa, had a chuckle too, that old sods law again! Reminded me about a trip to the loo in a supermarket the other day when I chucked my gloves and wrist splints on top of the cistern, got up then realised they'd fallen in! An expletive errupted then a belly laugh, only thing to do I'm afraid. Good luck with your extra visitors, they're hard work! Sara x

I chuck the laundry downstairs too, socks, knickers the lot. More often than not by the time I've arrived at the bottom of the stairs we have one of two scenarios, 1. Tilly and Ted are fast disappearing with their jaws tightly clasped around a bra or pair of boxers, taking a further five minutes to catch them and retrieve said items before they become unwearable. 2. Tilly and Ted are still under the pile moving around like feline ghosts trying to escape from the mess that is the laundry, and requiring much use of aching wrists to finally extricate them. All in all I spend far more time undoing what I've created than I would if I had carried the laundry downstairs ... sensibly?!! Husband says "I don't know why you don't learn, it's not funny!" It is, really and I still carry on doing it! Thank you for reminding me Ailsa, I'm chuckling away to myself here. Tilly,Ted and husband think I've lost the plot! Lyn x

Lyn!! Sounds like Tilly and Ted are still up to mischief then! Betty and Teddy are much more sedate now.... but ..... As we ave the French student staying, I thought we had better set the table and do 'proper' breakfast instead of the free for all that normally exists. Just before I had chance to clear up, Betty was discovered on the table, lapping away at a new tub of Lurpak (which I'd bought as a treat instead of the usual olive spread!) Had to bin it! Serves Betty right ifshe has a heart attack from cholestorol overload. She is making no attempt to look guilty, stretched out and having a liesurely wash! Cats! Who would have them!!?

All of us cat lovers, I guess! They are such amazing creatures and I love our two to bits. We had 6 eighteen months ago, but, sadly over the past 18 months, we've lost 4 of them xxxxxx

Ah yes mischief indeed! They are now hatching escape plans behind my back ... each time a door opens they are off! At least three times daily I have to perform a retrieval exercise. I've told them they're not going out until 1) they are bigger, 2) they've been chipped 3) the weather is better and 4) they start to understand some English! So a way to go yet then! I have had them neutered and bought collars so it's a start :) Well you definitely spoiled Betty's breakfast treat ... they never look guilty do they?! Tilly and Ted have to have an afternoon nap shut in the back room for a few hours, it's the only way I can get through tea for everyone without someone's plate being hijacked! It's very sad Jean that you've lost four cats in such a short space of time. We do become attached to them don't we? Lyn x

Sorry to hear you have lost 4 kitties so close together Jean. It must make your 2 extra-precious now. Any plans to expand again?! Susie is always asking for another kitten, on the basis that Teddy has at least 3 other homes that we know of where he eats and sleeps. His sister lives next door but one and she spends half her time here too, so I'm not sure I'm up to a kitten and 3 cats! You are braver than me Jean!
Good luck with the kitty-restraining Lyn! It always beats me how they can be so desperate to get out when they have never been out before. xx Ailsa

hubby and son think I've lost the plot (again) chuckling away to myself. Needed a laugh, joints sore. done to much in garden painting fences, wouldn't be told. can't get rid of the rebel in me sometimes. Know when I feel good I will regret it later. can't sit still and let this good moment pass by. does anyone else have this problem? Thanks Ailsa and Maria x sue v
